The incidence of the most important viral diseases of pigs and poultry in Singapore from 1979-84 is summarised. In 1983 the following viruses were isolated: swine fever (63 isolates from 51 farms), Aujeszky's disease (46 isolates from 35 farms), transmissible gastroenteritis (67 isolates from 67 farms), Newcastle disease (4 isolates from 2 farms) and infectious bronchitis (20 isolates from 18 farms). Killed vaccines are used to control Aujeszky's disease and egg drop syndrome and live viral vaccines are used for the other diseases.
