25 cases of idiopathic oligozoospermia and 20 cases of varicocele caused oligozoospermia were compared in the aspects of sex endocrinology, testicular pathology. Serum FSH level in the group of idiopathic oligozoospermia was markedly higher than that in the group of varicocele caused oligozoospermia, while LH and T levels showed respectively no significant difference between the two groups. No significant differences were found of testicular volume, the diameter and membrane of seminiferous tubules between the two groups. But varicocele caused oligozoospermia had obvious germ cell exfoliation accompanied with interstitial edema and vessel changes while the idiopathic oligozoospermia had distinct hypospermatogenesis. The calculated sperm density was significantly higher than the actual one in the group of varicocele caused oligozoospermia, which suggested that there was luminal obstruction in testicles.
