A newly developed telescopic magnet (the Steco titanium magnet) is presented and can guarantee a stable position of the epithesis, as well as still allow a vertical displacement up to 3 mm and at the same time permit a controllable rotation. In combination with other flat magnets (with spherical surfaces) even in unfavorable disparallel positions, a stable, base-adapted epithesial position is attainable and a permanent shaft secured. The Steco magnet is a valuable alternative to other retention mechanisms now available.
