Existing and planned electronic data exchange programmes in the field of the public veterinary services in Germany and in the EC are reviewed. The following systems are covered: ANIMO (Animal movement), SHIFT (System for Health Control of Imports from Third Countries), TSN (national [German] animal epidemic reports), IDES (Interactive data entry system on reports of epidemics) database on identification of cattle.
