In 1977, in Norway, there were 1 782 416 sheep and 69 885 goats v 1 667 488 and 67 758 resp. in 1976. The av. size of sheep flocks increased from 36.3 to 39.6 animals, and that of goat flocks from 37.6 to 38.9. Details are given of sheep and goat recording, and performance and progeny testing. For 1297 goats inseminated in 1977-78, the NR rate to 1st insemination was 68.5%, and for 152 Dala and 44 Old Norwegian ewes inseminated, the NR rate was 42.4 and 53.2% resp. Details are given of milk, meat and wool production.
