The essence of Micurinite biology is materialism. It opposes metaphysics and idealism which Weismanno-Morganists are alleged to be anxious to conserve. Building upon Darwin's foundations Micurinites showed that evolution can be directed in leaps. They have now succeeded in recording experimentally the changing of one wheat species into another (cf. Plant Breeding Abstracts, Vol. XVIII, Abst. 2000). Such profound changes are either denied by Weismannites or regarded by them as chance mutations.
