Argon ages obtained for rocks from the northwestern part of the Ukrainian shield, USSR, range from 1450 to 1850 million years. The highest figure for rocks of the Osnitsky complex, 1850 m.y. measured on muscovite from a pegmatite, is presumably closest to the true age of the complex. Ages around 1850 m.y. obtained for rocks of the Korosten intrusive complex suggest probable contemporaneity with the Osnitsky complex. Ages of 1450 and 1560 m.y. are measured on metamorphic rocks of the Ovruch series and indicate the approximate time of the regional metamorphism of parts of the shield.
