As a result of Adansonian classsification using 43 characteristics, slow growers of the genus Mycobacterium were divided into 4 groups: M. tuberculosis, M. bovis and an isolate from soil (strain no. 341); M. kansasii; M. terrae, M. avium. nonphotochromogens and M. aquae: and M. thermo-resistibile. M. thermoresistibile is a new species reported by M. Tsukamura in 1965.
