In veterinary medicine current abstracts and indexes are efficient. The search for material on cystic ovaries is described in detail, to show the wide range of bibliographical tools available, and the manner in which material may be selected at varying levels of complexity. Although present abstracts and indexes are satisfactory computer handling of scientific information is expanding, and is already used in medicine, chemistry, biology and general agriculture in the production of abstracts. Commonwealth Agricultural Bureaux publications will be produced by computer, some from 1972. Large stores of bibliographical information are being built upon on computer tape on which computer searches can be made, adding a new dimension to veterinary librarianship, to supplement to existing resources.
