Genetic and non-genetic determination of repeatability of blood and milk indices in black-and-white cows

For a herd of 123 cows, sired by 10 bulls, data are tabulated on the means, standard deviations and repeatabilities (estimated by regression) of 25 traits covering dairy performance, milk somatic cell count, and the composition and technological properties of milk, 15 blood composition traits, and 14 metabolic blood indices. Relatively high repeatabilities were found for traits associated with functioning of the immune system, and it is suggested that these traits could be used as genetic markers of natural resistance.
