Stereotactic radiotherapy using linear accelerators (Linac-knives) is a promising approach for treatment of metastatic brain tumors, arterio-venous malformations, and benign brain tumors. The advantages of the linac-knife over the Gamma knife are its capacity for stereotactic fractionated radiotherapy and to extend the indication for head and neck tumors and cervical spinal tumors.
