During the period of 6-12 months, in the majority of patients with occlusion of the branch of the retinal vein, the macular edema regresses and the intraretinal hemorrhages are resorbed. According to the author, this restoration of the circulatory conditions in the retina takes place especially due to the development of the veno-venous collaterals. The author presents an explanation of the mechanism of the regulation of the circulatory conditions in the retina during the development of the collaterals on the basis of the new approach to the explanation of the pathogenesis of the circulatory changes in occlusion of the branch of the retinal vein.
