In the light of a survey of the world literature Lyme borreliosis, an epidemic disease caused by gram-negative organisms Borrelia burgdorferi is described. The disease has three phases with involvement of the skin, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system and joints. Treatment with antibiotics is effective. The disease lies in the fields of interest of various specialties including paediatrics.
