Two pediatric cases of transient osteopenia of the hip joint are reported. Roentgenograms showed bone atrophy in the femoral head, the femoral neck, and the pelvis. Bone scintigrams showed a higher accumulation. At the follow-up study, osteopenia disappeared in both cases, however coxa magna was recognized in one case. The emphasis is on differential diagnosis from more severe disease, because the syndrome is characterized by spontaneous resolution.
