Mediastinal granuloma secondary to histoplasmosis

A case of mediastinal granuloma secondary to histoplasmosis is reported in a 35-yr-old woman. Plain radiographs, CT and MR imaging aided diagnosis. Right middle and lower lobectomy revealed extensive granulomatous inflammation and calcification, with caseous necrosis involving hilar lymph nodes and lung parenchyma. Cultures of this material yielded Histoplasma capsulatum.
