A section on quarantine (pp. 10-11) of this report on the storage, transport and marketing of rice in New South Wales includes notes on the warehouse beetle , which was detected in rice mills at Griffith, Leeton, Deniliquin and Coleambally in late March and early April 1977. It is believed that the beetle was introduced into Australia in a commercial protein additive imported from the USA. An eradication programme has been developed in Australia.
