The session, held in Moscow in May 1967, was opened by A. M. Kuzin, who referred to work on the induction of mutations by M. I. Nemenov in 1925 and its later application to plant breeding, the development of the target theory by L. Timofeev-Resovskij and others and the work in progress at the present time. B. N. Tarasov reported research on the effects of ultraweak irradiation which has shown resistance to radiation to be connected with antioxidants. N. A.
