This article discusses a conservative approach (low-caffeine diet) and its apparent effects on the symptoms of TN in a particular case. The trigeminal (fifth cranial) nerve innervates most of the face. Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) was first described in the late 17th century and continues to be a perplexing complaint. Some 15,000 new patients per year suffer with the acute pain of an attack or with the depression and fear of anticipated attacks.
