On November 15, 1990, the US enacted Public Law 101-557, which is known as the "Home Health Care and Alzheimer's Disease Amendments of 1990." Title 1 increases the number of grants given to states for home health care demonstration projects. Title 2 revises Alzheimer's disease research programs to include university medical centers as eligible grants recipients. Title 3 establishes a Task Force on Aging Research, and title 4 contains miscellaneous provisions, including the enhancement of tertiary perinatal facilities in states with excessive infant mortality rates among disadvantaged populations and an expansion of the definition of "eligible areas" for provisions relating to AIDS. The final title amends a government fellowship act to remove time limits on applications.
