Both hospital and community health nurses need to overcome their fears of AIDS contagion. Faced with a growing number of children and families affected by AIDS, nurses will see their role as health provider change. Working within a multidisciplinary health team nurses will become change agents, promoting sound physical, mental and sexual health practices among families in their care.
