This article's purpose is to report on a method that uses the clinical setting in educating medical residents to relate nutrition to common medical problems. The position of The American Dietetic Association concerning nutrition and medical education (5) encourages resident programs to use a registered dietitian (RD) to provide physician education and patient care and to include development of nutrition curriculums geared to the physician's area of specialization. The RDs informally educate the physicians with each interaction. More formally, RDs can relate their expertise by establishing an effective nutrition curriculum for medical residents.
