During an examination of 60 healthy subjects (from 5 to 75 years) and 195 patients with cerebrovascular diseases, the authors have established the age-associated values of blood velocity in the basal cerebral arteries and specified the role of the compression tests in evaluating collateral cerebral circulation. The data obtained permitted one to assess the diagnostic potentialities of transcranial dopplerosonography in cerebrovascular diseases.
