The technique of graft reduction has increased the donor pool for children in need of orthotopic hepatic transplantation. However, this technique has been associated with increased perioperative blood loss. Further refinements, such as covering the cut surface of the donor liver with a flap of Glisson's capsule, may help reduce this complication.
