Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health Care's risk-management program, which espouses early intervention, prevention and the maximum use of in-house resources to control costs and liability, has won the first award for excellence in healthcare risk management, given by Modern Healthcare and the MMI Cos. York (Pa.) Hospital was given special recognition for its project to reduce intravenous medication errors.
