The clinical syndrome in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) usually includes fever, diarrhea, anorexia, weight loss, and, eventually, opportunistic infections (1). These complications contribute to malnutrition, which in turn predisposes the patient to malabsorption and sepsis (2). An investigative study to determine the nutritional complications and incidence of malnutrition among AIDS patients was conducted.
