Research carried out from Oct. 1982 to Sept. 1983 on pedology of mineral, peat and forest soils, soil organic chemistry, microbiology, soil fertility and plant physiology is summarized. Aspects of fertility investigated include effects of N, P, S, K, Mn, Se, trace elements and soil acidity on growth of a range of arable and forage crops. Progress in soil surveys of Scotland are reported and members of staff and their publications listed.
