Among New York City births in 1986 4% of AIDS patients were twins compared with 1% of all the births. Incidence of twinning among patients with paediatric AIDS increased 5-fold for mothers <30 and 7-fold for those >30 years of age. Three sets among the 10 were discordant. Of 20 children in the 10 pairs, 13 have died from AIDS (medium age 7 months).D.W. FitzSimons.
