Enlargement of the transverse diameter of the pelvis in a cat

Following an accident, a triple fracture of the pelvis had healed with a misalignment, and the resultant constriction had led to incorrect gait, muscular atrophy and chronic constipation. The condition was surgically relieved by opening the symphysis, and inserting a block of bone from the ilium of a donor. The coprostasis was eliminated within an hour of recovery, the cat showed normal activity within a month, and had a virtually normal gait 20 months later.
