The efficacy of tramadol in the interval laparoscopic sterilization: a comparison of two dosage regimen

Tramadol is a new analgesic drug with a wide range of therapeutic dose and has been tested to be as effective as pethidine for outpatient interval sterilization. This study compared the efficacy of two regimes of dosage of Tramadol as an analgesic in 100 women who underwent interval laparoscopic sterilization. Fifty women received 1 mg/kg of Tramadol, while the other fifty received fixed dose of 100 mg Tramadol. No statistical difference in pain relief and side effect was found in the two groups. In practice, 100 mg Tramadol may be recommended because of its ease of administration and its effective analgesic.
