Of 59 patients (>18 yrs old) with seborrhoeic dermatitis, possibly due to Pityrosporon ovale [Malassezia furfur], 28 received a placebo and 31 were treated with benzoyl peroxide (2 applications per week). AIDS patients were excluded from the study, which lasted approx. 6 months. The treatment was effective.
