A survey was carried out of mosquitos on the three main atolls of the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean in July 1969. Three species were found: Aedes albopictus (Skuse), A. aegypti (L.) and Culex pipiens fatigans Wied. The last two species have apparently not been recorded there previously.
