The collection of Native American art and crafts belonging to the Centre of Study "Red Eagle Woman - American First Nation" is the result of the passionate and unfailing work of Carla Biddelli Fornasari and consists of 1500 pieces. The catalogue begins with the description of 52 headdresses belonging to 22 Tribes: 5 from North American and the other 17 from South America. We propose here a zoological analysis of these important ornaments, since many of them represent the most majestic expression of "plumaria" art and because they surely play a starring role both in the Collection and in Native American life. The headdresses, through their peculiar style, transmit messages about the sex, the age, the social position and the authority of the person who wears them. They certainly are symbols.
