Remineralization of early lesions and inhibition of demineralization are considered to be the prevailing mechanisms of action of fluorides. For this purpose a number of preparations are available today. Before applying them, one should be aware of their concentration, correct prescription, dosage, pharmacokinetics and potential side and after-effects.
