Seasonal variations in environmental conditions, food availability, food prices, and labour demands are substantial in many rural areas of developing countries. Such variations may have considerable impact on nutrition and health status. The paper explores seasonal variations in the impact of prices and assets on the nutrition and health status of individuals in rural south India, and in the allocation of food by parents to their children in this society.
