From July to September 1988 high mortality of waterfowl at several locations was observed. Suspicion of botulism was expressed. However in all cases an Aeromonas hydrophila infection was diagnosed. Pathogenesis and clinical signs of these two diseases with similar symptoms are briefly discussed.
