Health care costs continue to escalate as we approach the twenty-first century. Care givers need to be knowledgeable, cost effective and efficient regarding monies spent for health care. The use of specialty beds is one important economic issue facing all health care personnel in acute care settings, extended care facilities, and home care. There are many different types of specialty beds from which to choose. It is important for health care givers to be cognizant of the advantages as well as the limitations each type of specialty bed offers patients.
