In 1984 a project was begun to encourage dairy farming among women in the Muek Lek land reform area in the Saraburi province of central Thailand. Three years later, the project operated in five villages and involved 82 families. The case study outlines the history of the Thai dairy industry and describes the evolution and progress of the Muek Lek dairy project including a review of initial funding and project design.
