Of a number of microorganisms, invertebrates, and fish under consideration, the most promising are Bacillus thuringiensis H-14, which kills the larvae of all major species of mosquito and blackfly, B. sphaericus, which is much more persistent than the former and is toxic to Anopheles and Culex larvae, and the larvicidal fungus Lagenidium giganteum.
