The influence of maternal characteristics on extramarital fertility in Bulgaria is examined. "The analysis makes use of three basic indices: coefficient of out-of-wedlock births, structure of such births and coefficient of extramarital birth-rate. The author studies the impact on the level and intensity of out-of-wedlock births by the mother's age, education, economic activity, social group and place of residence, as well as the child's ."
