The author analyses the patient's emotional reactions to his sexual problems and those of his partner. A first study is reported showing that feminists are more tolerant and supportive. A second study performed on diabetic males with sexual dysfunction shows that the psychological consequences of impotence are less important in the partners than in the patients and that a positive attitude of the wife does not necessarily help in improving the sexual relationship.
