Survey of chemical pesticides used for the control of agricultural pests in Lahej, Abyan Dhalae and Taiz Governorates, Republic of Yemen

The total number of pesticides available in Dhalae, Lahej, Abyan and Taiz Governorates in Yemen was 25, 37, 60 and 73, respectively. The number of highly toxic pesticides was 14, 15, 25 and 25 in Dhalae, Lahej, Taiz and Abyan Governorates, while the number of moderately toxic pesticides in these governorates reached 11, 20, 31 and 32, respectively. The rest of the pesticides were less toxic. Insecticides were the most commonly used pesticides against agricultural pests, with 20, 40, 50 and 52 types in Dhalae, Lahej, Taiz and Abyan Governorates, respectively, followed by fungicides with 5, 7, 24 and 7 types, respectively. The number of organophosphorus pesticides in Dhalae, Lahej, Abyan, and Taiz Governorates was 12, 13, 23 and 28 types, respectively, whereas the number of chlorinated hydrocarbons was 0, 2, 4 and 4 types, respectively.
