Leucocytic variations in neoplastic disorders

Variations in leucocytes have been observed in malignant disorders. In the present study, 25 female patients suffering from malignant neoplasms (breast, GIT, liver and female genital systems) and ten female patients having benign neoplasms (fibrodenoma breast and leiomyoma) were studied. The various parameters example, total and differential leucocyte count, presence of toxic granules or vacuoles, alkaline phosphatase (IAP), nitroblue Tetrazolium (NBT) uptake, blastoid transformation and leucocyte migration inhibition tests were all abnormal in patients suffering from malignant disorders as compared to patients with benign lesions and normal controls.
