Out of 265 male patients with acute myocardial infarction 30 patients began walking the first days after the onset of the disease (without doctor's permission) (group 1) and 126 patients at the 6th-15th day (on doctor's permission) (group 2). The number and severity of late complications were compared in each group with specific features of the disease in the first three days and the terms when walking was begun. In cases when the disease took a favourable course in the first three days the number of late complications was insignificant, and there was no significant difference between the patients of both groups. With an unfavourable course in the first three days the number and severity of complications grew significantly in group 1 patients.
