A case of cavitating pneumonia in AIDS

The case of a 30-year-old unmarried heterosexual Chinese male with AIDS complicated by cavitating pneumonia is reported. A diagnosis of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) was established by bronchoscopy. This case mimicked pulmonary tuberculosis which led to a delay in diagnosis.
