Nonepithelial malignant tumors of the gallbladder

Among the 230 patients with histologically verified diagnosis of malignant tumours of the gallbladder tumours of the nonepithelial origin have been found in 7 patients (3.04 per cent): lymphoreticular sarcoma in 3, hemangioendothelioma in 2 , giant follicular lymphoma in 1 and spindle cell sarcoma in 1 patient. The female to male ratio was 6:1, the patients' average age was 45.6 years. Gallstones have been found in all the patients either intraoperatively or during autopsy. Five patients were operated on, cholecystectomy was performed in 3 cases. The remote postoperative results were followed up in 2 female patients: the patient with spindle cell sarcoma lived 7 months and another patient with lymphoreticular sarcoma lived 14 months. Four patients died in hospital.
