During a one-year period, 4,357 domesti accidents related to products were registered in the casualty wards of Randers Centralsygehus and Arhus Amtssygehus as part of the Danish participation in the EEC pilot survey. In all accidents, the product(s) involved was/were recorded in a detailed product list. The number of domestic accidents related to products which had been treated primarily in general practice was not registered. The research was considered applicable for accident-epidemiologic analyses and as a basis of project initiative on domestic accidents related to products. In a large number of main groups of products, an accumulation of accidents in certain age groups was found. For example, 34,9% of all domestic accidents related to products occurred in the age group 0-15 years. In several main groups of products, men/women tended to predominate. The greatest number of accidents was found in the spring months and the incidence of the accidents was highest on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The progress of treatment was registered as a measure of the gravity of the accidents.
