Blood flow (BF) velocity in the intracranial arteries was measured in 40 healthy subjects in the third decade of age (mean age 25 years) in order to evaluate some normal parameters of cerebral BF. The terminal segment of the internal carotid artery (ICA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) were insonated on both sides in very subject. A bidimensional pulsed velocimeter TC 2-64B with 2 MHz frequency was used, controlled by a microprocessor containing a fast-Fourier transformed spectrum analyzer.
