Treatment of blepharospasm with botulinum A toxin injections

Author treated 11 patients suffering from blepharospasm with Botulinum-A toxin injections. They all underwent extensive previous drug and other (acupuncture, psychotherapy) treatment without any remarkable result. The blepharospasm of all the patients ceased on the second to fifth day after the injection, and the benefit lasted from 5 to 16 weeks (mean 11 weeks). Repeated injections had the same effect in each case as the first one. There were no disturbing side effects.
