A modification to the keys in R.F. Darsie, Jr. & R.A. Ward (1981) [Identification and geographical distribution of the mosquitoes of North America, north of Mexico. Mosquito Systematics, Supplement 1] is given to enable separation of adult females of C. stigmatosoma and C. peus, following recent nomenclatural changes [see D. Strickman (1988) Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington, 90: 484-494].
