The scientific activities of the Institute are reported in 3 main sections: (i) Laboratory research, (ii) operational research and (iii) clinical research. Each of these sections contains reports by various laboratories. Most of the parasitological research is included in the reports of the laboratories or units of histopathology and experimental schistosomiasis, of tropical haematology, or protozoology, of serology, of tropical veterinary medicine and of tropical zootechnics. A great proportion of the research was concentrated on schistosomiasis trypanosomiasis, malaria and filariases. Reports are also given of the 18th International course for the Promotion of Health, held at the Institute for 19 physicians working in developing countries; of the 23rd International Colloquium held at the Institute on Dec. 11 to 13, 1981 on the pathogenesis of lesions of parasitic origin, with a list of papers presented; on the activities of the Medical Services of the Clinique Leopold II at Antwerp and on the activities of overseas services, namely at the Centre de Kazongo and the Kimuenza Parasitological Unit, both in Zaire and Centro Nacional de Enfermedades Tropicales (CENETROP) Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
